RWB Festival History

Crothersville’s Red White & Blue Festival is known as, Indiana’s, most patriotic festival proudly saluting our nation’s flag and honoring  our veterans. During the three-day festival the population of the small southeastern Jackson County community will double with family and friends eager to enjoy the first festival of the season in Jackson County.

Take a family reunion, combine it with a Fourth of July picnic, sprinkle in a dash of amusement park and stir with some hometown pride and you have the ingredients of a patriotic festival. Back in 1976 all the communities were encouraged to organize some sort of Bicentennial birthday party to commemorate the nation’s 200th birthday.

Knowing that a lot of other communities would be planning events around July 4th on other festivals and choose Flag Day weekend. The Red White & Blue Festival has been held the second weekend ever since. One charter organizer still has a hand in seeing that the festival runs smoothly.

It was suppose to be a one time celebration but there was such a positive community response that we continue still today. We believe that we are the longest running Bicentennial celebration in existence in the United States.Honoring our Veterans and paying tribute to Old Glory is what we’re all about.
